Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival Flower Show
“Celebrating America’s 250 With Floral Designs”
The Knox County Garden Clubs will present “Celebrating America’s 250 With Floral Designs” during the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival, August 14 – 16, 2026 at the Living Center 201 North Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
The Flower Show is open to all Knox County residents and members of the Knox County Garden Clubs. It is also open to nonresidents of Knox County, who wish to enter by making a reservation by calling 740 397 5156 (Jo Ann Graham) by Saturday, August 8, 2026. The horticulture and artistic shows are open to all amateur and professional arrangers, judges and amateur gardeners. There are horticulture and design sections for adult, juniors, and Living Center residents. There is no entry charge for participants. Entries will be accepted from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday, August 14.
Schedules for the artistic and horticulture show are available at the main entrance to the Living Center or by calling 740 397 5156. Everyone is invited to enter the show if for the first time or experienced. No reservations are required for Knox County residents or Knox County Garden Club members. All rules pertaining to the show are written in the schedule and detailed information on artistic and horticulture classes. The show will be judged by an Ohio Association of Garden Clubs accredited judge.
To help all participants, two workshops are planned and open to any adult or junior arranger or gardener, garden club member, 4-H club member or Living Center residents, planning to enter the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival Flower Show.
Workshop for the Artistic Sections will be July 8,2026, Wednesday 1:00 PM at the Living Center, Activity Room. This is an opportunity to ask for suggestions and help with designs. This is to be a fun learning experience.
Jo Ann Graham and Audrey Spearman will give tips on entering the Artistic Section. They will give tips on mechanics, demonstrate a design(s), and answer questions on the requirements for the show.
Participants are asked to choose one or two designs in Sections E or F on the Festival Flower Show Schedule for August 14, Friday, they are considering entering to make during the workshop. Each participant needs to bring a container(s) with soaked oasis (Flower Foam) or a needle point to hold plant material and plant material including flowers, greens and if needed line material or accessories.
Workshop for Horticulture Section, is July 22, 2026, Wednesday, 1:00 PM at the Living Center, Activity Room.
This is an opportunity to learn proper grooming and rules for showing all types of horticulture. This is to be a learning experience.
Jo Ann Graham and Audrey Spearman will give tips on entering the Horticulture Section. They will go over the rules and guidelines for showing cut flowers, annuals, perennials, dahlias, glads, flowering shrubs, herbs, caladiums, container grown plants, fruits, and vegetables on the show schedule.
Hopefully they can bring examples of many to show how to groom and display. If participants have examples of these in their garden and would like to bring to learn how to groom and prepare for the show that would be helpful. This will give participants a chance to ask questions and how to improve their exhibits to win a blue ribbon.
