Hi, Potential Festival Force Member!

We truly appreciate your interest with this year’s Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival. We are indeed moving with a positive attitude toward this tremendous activity and hold on to the idea that our health situation will resolve in time. Certainly, only time will tell.

At this point, we have 1,100 slots to be filled to facilitate a smooth-running event. This is up 30% from last year as we have added many new activities this year.  Please look over all the options presented and choose perhaps not one but several activities that you would like to support.

This event is all about our community and coming together. Please consider how you can add your talents to support this grand activity. You will be glad you did, and we will too.

Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival Committee.

Tent Captains (5) – This is an important position. We are looking for 5 (five) individuals who are willing to take the responsibility of leading the setup of tents for the large venue areas. Tent Captains will lead a crew for this task. Not a tough job or responsibility, just a lot to do. Training will be supplied.

Festival Setup YEAH!!! (50) – This requires many, many hands. This group of 50 people help with putting up tents, chairs, trash cans and many other activities. The more the merrier. It is fun and tasks are accomplished very quickly.

Guardian of the ICE (2) - These shifts, of two people, help process and distribute ice to the food vendors of the festival. This is a cushy job as you literally sit by the ice, in the shade, and help those that come to you.

Shuttle Driver (Downtown) – These are “front line” hosts. These drivers assist guests with transportation throughout the festival. Drivers must be 25 years or older.

General Gatherers of Trash (2) – This two-person team simply runs about the festival and checks trash in cans and on the streets. We don’t change the trash, we simply monitor unkept areas, wipe down tables, and other minor tasks.

Doodle Board Hosts (5) – These are “front line” hosts.  This activity is new to the festival. Force members will wear a lightweight “Doodle (White) Board”. Festival guests are invited to come to you and simply doodle or draw on your board. You will have markers and cleaner to continually change (clean) the board.

Stage/Tech Assistance (15) - New to the festival. These Force Members will assist with setup of the performance for each of the venues. This may include loading in or out equipment for musicians or sound.

Hospitality Tent Host (2) – Our Hospitality Tent is our general headquarters for both guests and Force members. It is here that information about the festival is provided. Maps of the festival with event times will be available as well as other information about Mount Vernon and Knox County. It will also be a refuge for all Force members. Here they will be provided snacks and water and a place to simply sit and relax.

Aqua Aviators/ Booth Monitors (2) - This team of two visits our craft vendors, offers water, and monitors their booth should they need a break for food or restroom.

Kid Zone Host (10) – This event/activity has increase in size and options. Associated with this zone are hand-on activities that need supervision. They include, but are not limited to PVC xylophone instruments, Large- scale Pendulum Sand Art, Knox County Ohio Rocks and more.

Gallery Hosts - New to the festival. This year we will have two galleries open for guests and viewing.  One will be the Ballroom in the Grand Hotel. The other is the Schnormeier Art Gallery. Both places will be out of the weather and where one can sit.

Woodward Recital Hall Host – The Recital Hall will be the venue for our craft demonstration. Hosts will greet, direct guests and answer questions.

Load In for Phil Dirt and the Dozers (5) - Direct Need. These Force members will work with the equipment team associated with the band. It is a hands-on activity.

Woodward Opera House Host (2) – The Opera House will host several performance activities. Hosts will greet, direct guests and answer questions.

Chairs for Headliners (10) – As a courtesy to our guests the festival has always provided chairs to use during the headliner performances. Force members are needed to help setup and position these chairs.

Load Out for Phil Dirt and the Dozers (5) - Direct Need. These Force members will work with the equipment team associated with the band. It is a hands-on activity. This activity does not take too long.

Sculpted Air Host – New to the festival. This host will welcome quests to view Aaron “Doc” Hay as he develops incredible, large-scale, balloon sculptures. This will be in The Woodward Opera House Promenade.

Woodward Blackbox Theater Host - The Blackbox Theater will be the venue for our activities related to theatrical presentations. Hosts will greet, direct guests and answer questions.

Bistro Hosts (5) - New to the festival. Following the Friday and Saturday night headliners, guests will be invited to the Woodward Opera House for hors d’oeuvres, appetizers and “light” music. A quiet time to settle down and enjoy the ambiance. Hosts will welcome guests and make accommodations as needed.

Load in for Little River Band (5) - Direct Need. These Force members will work with the equipment team associated with the band. It is a hands-on activity.

Tear Down Saturday Night (25)THIS IS A BIG DEAL!  We need many, many hands for this activity. All the chairs need to be removed. Several tents need to be removed or place in different locations. Last year we did this in one hour. Please, please consider helping the festival with this activity.

Car Show Host/Attendant (25) This is a large-scale activity that also needs a lot of hands. You do not need to know about cars, but simply help get areas set up and keep it flowing. Please think about how you can assist in this fun, busy, but very important activity.

CLEAN UP Downtown (50)THIS IS A BIG DEAL of all DEALS TOO! We really need friends and family to help put the downtown back together. This involves dismantling all the tents, gathering all chairs, return of all festival equipment to the trailers, sweeping the streets and anything else needed.  Last year the festival ended at 4:00 and everything was finished by 6:00.  Please consider helping with this activity. You are very much needed.

Live music, interactive arts, great food, arts and crafts vendors. Yup. It's awesome. Plus, we made this website.
